I’ve always admired unusually-shaped trees and other plants. Particularly the twisted “witch trees“ that grow along cold and blustery shores. But this is a terrific analogy, one which has never occurred to me. People can become gnarled and frightening-looking, merely by surviving great challenges. Thank you for your insight. And light.
